Exams conducted via mobile apps demand more from devices than regular apps. The performance and experience depend heavily on the health, resources, and configuration of each student’s device. These guidelines help institutes ensure smoother mobile exam delivery and reduce user complaints.
These instructions are crucial for ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted exam experience, especially since the test is taken offline.
Clean and Optimize: Before starting or downloading the test, clean and optimize your device. Ensure no other apps or messaging services are running in the background, as device resource issues can cause the app to crash.
Battery Charge: Ensure your device is sufficiently charged (recommended to keep it on charging mode) to last for the full duration of the test.
Device Confirmation: The device you start the test on is registered. You will not be able to continue the same test on any other device.
Activate Airplane Mode: You must turn on AIRPLANE MODE and turn off Wi-Fi before you begin to answer the test. This is essential for the offline nature of the exam.
Do Not Disconnect: DO NOT turn off Airplane Mode or turn on Wi-Fi/Mobile Data during the test. If you do, the test will be auto-submitted.
Stay in the App: Do not lock the device, close the app, or switch to a different app for more than a set time (e.g., 60 seconds), as this will also cause the test to auto-submit.
Time & Date: Do not change the date and time of the device during the test, or it will be auto-submitted.
Saving Answers: Your answers are typically saved automatically with every click or response.
Final Submission: You can select "Final Submit" from the action menu. If you don't submit yourself, the system will Force Submit the test once the maximum time duration is over.
Test Upload (Manual): After submission, you must manually upload the test data.
Deactivate Airplane Mode and ensure your device has an Internet connection (Wi-Fi/Data).
Go to the Test List and click to Upload the Test.
Results: The results will be published by the administrator after the final upload time granted to all users has passed.
The guidelines for institutions focus on leveraging the mobile app's capabilities to maximize reach and security:
Offline Capability: The app's main benefit for institutes is that it removes dependency on internet connectivity during the entire test, thus making it suitable for a larger audience with varied network access.
Platform Choice: While the app is optimized for mobile/tab screens and offline use, the institute's system generally provides access on multiple platforms (Mobile App, Computer Browser, etc.) but students should be instructed to use the App on mobile devices.
Security Measures: The system includes security features such as:
One-Device Access: Restricting a user to only one device at a time.
Content Security: Content (videos, notes) is often restricted to be viewable only inside the secure app environment.
Integrated Learning: The app often functions as a full Learning Management System (LMS), allowing institutes to provide not only exams but also video lectures, study materials, notifications, attendance, and assignment updates.
Encourage students to fully charge their devices before the exam.
Disable automatic updates, notifications, and background syncs during exams.
If possible, set minimum device specifications (RAM, OS version) and notify students in advance.
Provide fallback support—if a student’s device fails, have alternate measures like a backup device or alternate exam slot.
