At Addmen, we believe that OMR sheet processing should be accurate, fast, and cost-effective. With our software-centric approach, you don’t need expensive, specialized OMR machines. A standard flatbed or ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) image scanner is sufficient to digitize OMR answer sheets, and then our OMR software handles the evaluation.
This approach gives you flexibility: scan using the hardware you already own or purchase a compatible model best suited to your scanning volume and budget.
Flatbed / Desktop Scanners
Useful for low-to-moderate volume scanning; you place one sheet at a time.
→ Best when you have fewer sheets or need high precision per sheet.
ADF / Sheet-fed Scanners
Allow you to load 30–50 (or more) sheets at once, automating the feed process.
→ Ideal when you must scan many answer sheets quickly.
You don’t need to worry about software integration — the scanning process is independent of Addmen’s software. Simply scan sheets, save images, and allow the OMR software to read them.
We list some of the popular ADF scanner models, along with typical speeds and pricing (these are approximate and may vary):
| Model | Speed / PPM | Typical Features | Approx Price* |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canon DR-C225 | ~25 ppm, duplex, 30-sheet ADF | Compact, reliable | ~ ₹29,995 |
| Fujitsu SP-1120 | ~20 ppm, duplex | Entry-level ADF | ~ ₹26,000 |
| Fujitsu SP-1125 | ~25 ppm, duplex | Good middle option | ~ ₹34,000 |
| Fujitsu SP-1130 | ~30 ppm, duplex | High throughput | ~ ₹40,000 |
| Avision 176U | ~30 ppm, duplex | Competitive mid model | ~ ₹28,000 |
* “Addmen Price” may vary based on deals, supply, or currency fluctuations.
For budget models, scanners in the range of ₹8,000–₹10,000 are available that can scan about 10 OMR sheets per minute. For heavier workloads, advanced ADF scanners (₹20,000–₹90,000 range) can scan 20–120 pages per minute.
Cost & Availability
Traditional OMR machines are expensive, bulky, require proprietary sheets, and are hard to maintain.
Our approach uses off‑the‑shelf scanners with standard paper, drastically reducing costs.
Flexibility & Compatibility
Any brand or model of scanner can be used — there is no mandatory coupling with OMR software.
Scanning can even be done on a computer that doesn’t have the OMR software installed.
No Special Sheets Required
No need for thick sheets or two-color printing. Ordinary copy paper in black (single color) works fine.
Design & Print OMR Sheets
Use Addmen’s OMR form design tool or a standard layout. Print using ordinary copiers or laser printers.
Load Sheets in Scanner
For flatbed: place one sheet at a time
For ADF: load a stack of sheets (30–50) into the feeder pocket
Scan Sheets as Images
Save images in formats like TIFF, BMP, PDF, or JPG at recommended DPI settings.
Import into OMR Software
The software reads IDs, mark zones, answer bubbles, and other data. Misaligned or skewed sheets are auto-calibrated.
Evaluate & Generate Results
Compare against answer keys, compute scores, produce detailed reports and analytics.

Q: Do I really need a special OMR scanning machine?
A: No. The legacy OMR scanning machines are largely obsolete. You can use a regular flatbed or ADF scanner.
Q: What scanning speed should I look for?
A: It depends on your workload. Entry-level ADF scanners scan ~10 sheets/min. Professional ones scan 20–120 pages/min.
Q: Must my scanner support duplex (double-sided scanning)?
A: Duplex scanning is beneficial for two-sided answer sheets. But single-sided scanning works well for standard single-side OMR sheets.
Q: Can I use multiple different scanner models together?
A: Yes — all scanning is independent of the OMR reading software. You can mix and match models.
Q: What DPI or image quality is required?
A: Usually 100–200 dpi in grayscale or black & white is sufficient; overly high DPI is unnecessary for mark detection.
